"Ah, so you know how to survive and I guess you want to know what you're surviving. Well, this is a little experiment I've created. I'm trying my hand at being a scientist.
"I have been generous enough to create a brand new planet for you all to mess up! I know, I love breaking new things, too. I've been hand picking all these interesting people from so many time periods from your original Earth and dropped them here! I'm not sure they realize it yet. This is a perfect copy of Earth, but I think they might figure it out eventually. I did pick out a few people that died and was nice enough to save them right before their lights went out. Do you think that's a give away? Hmm ... Oh well.
"So, yes. Brand new Earth, all those heroes, villains, and on-the-fencers dropped innocently into what will be chaos. Oh, I should probably tell you that I'm not bringing everyone here. There are those that I just couldn't bare to disturb and some people just give me the willies. Curious who those people are? You'll just have to ask for those names. I can't say it here; they might be listening."
